about

"So we do not lose heart... For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison." (2 Corinthians 4:16-17, ESV)

On her third release "Unconquered," Angela Hutchison continues to meld modern acoustic styling and singable coffee-house folk. Her lyrics catch you from the first hook: singable, genuine and down-to-earth, with an uncommon depth.

Track Name: Unconquered
For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness,
who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God
in the face of Jesus Christ.

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,
that the excellence of the power may be of God
and not of us.

We are hard-pressed on every side,
yet not crushed;
we are perplexed, but not in despair;
persecuted, but not forsaken;
struck down, but not destroyed -

always carrying about in the body
the dying of the Lord Jesus,
that the life of Jesus
also may be manifested
in our body.

...knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus
will also raise us up with Jesus,
and will present us with you.
...Therefore we do not lose heart.
Track Name: Song of Remembrance
Jesus my King, spoke everything into being by the Word of His Power
Each planet and star - the sun and the moon
And He breathed the first breath into
Adam's new-formed heart
He spoke life, life, life
Unfurling each bud from the field
And releasing new birds in the air
And my mouth will sing to this Glorious King
So this is my song - let creation sing on
This is my song of remembrance

God before time, poured out His blessing
On Abraham and his line
Then in Moses' age, when they cried out in bondage
He answered in mercy
Proclaiming His Glory He saved
With a mighty Hand
He sent pestilence on Pharoh's land
Parting waters for Israel's clans
And my mouth will sing to this Delivering King
This is my song - I'll join Israel's throng
This is my song of remembrance.

The Word became flesh, and dwelt here among us
In infinite righteousness
The winds and the waves, and demons obeyed
The Almighty Son, Chosen One, come to save
On the cross He died
For our iniquities crucified
The wrath of our God satisfied
And my mouth will sing to this conquering King
This is my song - let the redeemed sing along
This is my song of remembrance

Let the redeemed of The LORD say so
Let the redeemed proclaim His Name
Let the redeemed of The LORD say so
Let them remember - Let them sing...

For this God of all grace, chose to make Himself
Known to this rebel of Adam's race
I was dead in my sins, but He paused by my grave
By the Word of His power, He called me by name
And said "Live!"
He spoke life, life, life
By His blood He gave His life for mine
Because He lives I will live for all time
So my mouth will sing to this life-giving King
This is my song, now to God I belong
This is my song of remembrance
Track Name: I Can Still Hear You
My hands are wide out open
And my heart is just the same
Feels like an empty parking lot
In the pouring rain
But Your love is unchanging

In obedience I've had to run
A sword right through this dream
In the aftermath of silence my strength
Is not like what it seems
But Yours is unfailing

Praise the Name
Of the One Who is never going to change
The One Who is the sunlight in these shadows
The perfect blue behind every raging storm cloud
Praise the Name
Of the One Whose Spirit fills the empty all of me
In Your supremacy – You speak Your Word to me
I can still hear You

This grief is like a compost pile
And just now I don't know why
I'm trying to pick which part to blame
For making me cry
So I'll sing from this shadow

In this fellowship of suffering,
Your presence floods my soul
My Father You have spoken
And Your Word has made me whole
Let tears fall and faith grow

Praise the Name
Of the One Who is never going to change
The One Who is the sunlight in these shadows
The perfect blue behind every raging storm cloud
Praise the Name
Of the One Whose Spirit fills the empty all of me
In Your supremacy – You speak Your Word to me
I can still hear You

You are my constancy
Your Word it speaks to me
I can still hear You
Track Name: Quoting Deuteronomy
John The Baptizer
By The Jordan brook
Up comes this brood of vipers
Just to take a look
John says, "There's a comin' of glory,
There's a comin' of wrath,
There's some mighty things comin' to pass."

Peter was a preachin'
At the Pentecost
Says you must turn around now
And you must be washed
'Cause there's a comin' of glory,
There's a comin' of wrath,
There's some mighty things comin' to pass

The Lord God Almighty
Came as a The Son of Man
Fastin' down in the wilderness
Quotin' Deuteronomy to the devil
And then He set His face like flint toward Jerusalem

Well they tried to silence Stephen
With the sticks and stones
But his voice is still ringin'
You can hear it in a Gospel song
Singin' there's a comin' of glory,
There's a comin' of wrath,
There's some mighty things comin'
Oh, they're comin' to pass
Track Name: If I Could Run Away
A rejected race & everyone knows
Locked in their gaze as I approach
My little child bound by evil will
I must come close, I can't stand still
A crumb from You would be more than my fill

If I could run away I - I would run to You
If I could fly away I - would fly back to the truth
Though I were a dog I'd eat the crumbs of my Master's food
If I could run away I - I would run to You

Three times denied - the rooster crows
How can I hide what He already knows?
He looks my way - I'm pierced right through
I've betrayed my King with words I can't undo
The deed is done - where can I run?

If I could run away I - I would run to You
If I could fly away I - I would fly back to the truth
You have the Words of life - Who else could I ever run to?
If I could run away I - I would run to You

The soul inside this body, wrestling with doubt
Lord, am I in or am I out?
To turn away from You is to run inside of me
And that hiding place is a deadly enemy
Faithless, I fear rejection - still to You I come
My only merit - Christ's redemption
My only hope - Your Son.

If I could run away I - I would run to You
If I could fly away I - I would fly back to the truth
Though You slay me, yet by grace would I follow You
If I could run away I - I would run to You

Raise your hands up weak and broken
Raise your hands and stand up tall
Such are the children of my Father - the children of my God
He came to heal that which was sick
He came to find that which was lost
His is a saving and a keeping grace
He Who began this good work will see that we finish this race

If I could run away I - I would run to You
If I could fly away I - I would fly back to the truth
Keeper of the stars You have the strength to keep me too
If I could run away I - I would run to You
Track Name: Hey Hillary (Song For My Dental Hygenist)
Hey, Hey, Hillary - 1963 - Someone wrote a book
Suggesting that said you were not free
Hey, Hey, Hillary - The stresses of your life
Fell into step with discontent
And you thought they must be right
So you marched along with a volatile throng
Shouting, "Liberty! Justice! and Equality!
Set the women free"
Don't be dependent on a man
You can do anything he can

Hey, Hey Hillary - So began the school
To live the golden rule of self-fulfillment
Hey, Hey, Hillary - They said that babies have no rights
It's your body and it's all about your life
And you can pick and choose the relationships for you
And if you give yourself away - You can discard the proof
Keep your heart aloof
Somehow your teachers failed to say
That there was a Judgement Day

Hey, Hey, Hillary - How were you blind to see
The mighty role you play within the family?
Hey, Hey, Hillary - What about your kids?
If you're not the one whose raising them who is?
And if you drop the ball
Don't be surprised if they do too
They were playing catch and had no one to pass it to
Hillary where were you?
How can you expect good fruit
From a tree that has no root?

And the film has kept on rolling
I'm watching through the lens of this age
Catch it all for free - It's called The Demise of Family
And a girl who sold the worth of her identity
For a forgery

Hey, Hey, Hillary - Don't you feel torn in two
When choice becomes an expectation handed down to you?
Hey, Hey, Hillary - Now your gender bears the weight of two
As the world demands you play the part it's cast for you
Just step back and breathe
Do you know who God made you to be
Or do you have some preconceived idea of slavery?
In Christ there's liberty
There is strength you'll come to know
When you stop defining your own role

So Hey, Hey, Hillary - The world may scoff at you
When you walk away from all that it expects of you
But Hey, Hey Hillary - There's no reward in serving self
The returns are made by investing into someone else
It's a weighty privilege to point a little heart to His
To train a child up in the way that they should go
We're so accountable
Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey Hillary
Track Name: Thomas O'Crann
Now Thomas O'Crann was a near-sighted man
Who liked to walk about without His glasses
He'd stumble all around, grumbling profoundly
Crying, "Can't see the sun without the lamp turned on!"

Friends who knew him well shook their heads as he would yell
For someone in the room to turn the light on
They'd offer him his specs but he'd refuse all their attempts
Crying, "Can't see the sun without the lamp turned on!"

Two doors down, across the street, lived a man who liked to keep
Track of all his neighbours excentricities
As a wisened salesman, he gleaned profit from demand
Crying, "Can't see the sun without the lamp turned on!"

Knowing Thomas' propensity for visual complexity
He took a chance on a sudden bright idea
For a hefty market price, he sold Thomas some new lights
Crying, "Can't see the sun without the lamp turned on!"

Now Thomas was more than glad
With all the lamps the salesman had
They offered a solution to what ailed him
And without his glasses on, the salesman's bill couldn't go wrong
Crying, "Can't see the sun without the lamp turned on!"

So the question remains outstanding, was it delusion or insanity
That gave Thomas such an optical illusion?
Or can purposeful self-will blind a seeing man until he's crying,
"Can't see the sun without the lamp turned on!"?

"Can't see the sun without the lamp turned on!"
Track Name: Ebenezer
Did you hear what was carried on the wind
When I was far away and you weren't listening?
I shouted loud enough for you to hear
And I wish it wasn't so
And I miss what I remember, so don't go

Can you see what my thoughts could never say?
It's like looking at a photograph to recall a certain day
I'm holding up this photograph to you
As an Ebenezer stone
Of a commitment that's been weathered and has grown

Love can build a history
And strife can tear it down
But as I'm longing for the victory
I will not turn around
From this path that we've been walking on
I'll seek the higher ground
And by God' grace I will not walk away

Do you know what was whispered in the night
Like a candle seeking solace in the brightness of the sunlight
The flame at times be small, but it still burns
And I will let it shine
This commitment's for all time
I will protect it from the rain
And offer it's refrain to you

Love can build a history
And fear can tear it down
But as I'm longing for the victory
I will not turn around
From this path that we've been walking on
I'll seek the higher ground
And by God' grace I will not walk away
Lord, in Your strength I will not walk away.
Track Name: To The King
Praise to the Lamb on the Throne
Who reigns forever
Who made us a people His own
For His good pleasure

By His cross we have been justified
By His life we shall be made alive
By His wounds we have been healed
By His Spirit we've been sealed

Glory, Honor and Power
Sing Hallelujah!
Praises, shout it out louder
Sing Hallelujah!
To the King
To the King

Praise to the God of all life
Of each breath and heartbeat
Praise to His sovereign control
For He leads His people

It's in You we are satisfied
Here's our hearts - be glorified
Here we stand to sing Your praise
Till we see You face to face (chorus)

Here's our hearts - we are satisfied
May You be ever glorified
Saints and angels all rejoice
Earth and Heaven lift one voice (chorus)
Track Name: Glorious
Nothing I say is new revelation
The Sovereign of Old, The God of salvation
Has spoken His Word
Any new idea, any wisdom untold
Hold it up this light - See if it's right
His truth will unfold

You'll be deceived if you don't know what He told you
You might believe anything and let it own you

Our God is glorious
His Word is glorious
It's a blazing Light, a Sword to fight, a map laid out for us
Seek and you will find, faith is not blind
The Truth is glorious

Liars may look benign and truth-tellers brute
Has your mind been renewed to gaze at a tree
And know it by it's fruit?
Vague and lofty thought can cloak the simplest of lies
And the simplest of truths can be fathoms deep and oceans wide
How will you recognize?

Truth is abused when it is reduced to shades of opinion
Who is the grounds to separate all fact from fiction?
Track Name: In Summary
I could spend a lifetime writing love songs
And try to make you cry
Relate my life in such a way you could identify
But with these minutes of your life
Should I never meet you twice
I would sing you Jesus

I could solely write of all life's benefits
And leave you with good feelings
But I know the Maker of those gifts that you're receiving
He's the Author of all grace
Let me point you to His face
Not an idol to replace King Jesus

For on that Judgement Day
When all gets swept away
There is One Who we will face
Will you be recognized by Jesus?

The only beauty in the sunbeams
Is the knowledge of the Sun
Recognize where every single benefit comes from
So may I not string you along
With just another feel-good song
Life is short and Hell is long
Find rest in Jesus

For on that Judgement Day
When all gets swept away
There is One Who we will face
Have you been reconciled through Jesus?

For on that Judgement Day
When all gets swept away
There is One Who we will face
Will you be recognized by Jesus?
